Is it really supply and demand?

The FHWA’s Traffic Volume Trends report, produced monthly since 1942, shows that estimated vehicle miles traveled (VMT) on all US public roads for March 2008 fell 4.3% as compared with March 2007 travel. This is the first time estimated March travel on public roads fell since 1979. At 11 billion miles less in March 2008 than in the previous March, this is the sharpest yearly drop for any month in FHWA history.

Meanwhile, Oil Futures have been steadily on the rise but in the past week has begun to recede from it's highest level of just over $135 to around $128 per barrel.

Ironically yesterday I saw gas near my office for the first time above 4 dollars [actually listed at $4.03]. With demand decreasing and barrel prices falling, why does the price at the pump continue to rise? I am no longer buying the age old excuse of supply and demand because right now, those ideals do not hold water [or gasoline].

Lost and [hopefully] found

In preparation for tonight's season finale, let's review this video - known as the Orchid Orientation Film, which was first shown at Comic-Com last summer [what a long set-up this has been and I can't wait for the payoff tonight]:

The video features Dr. Edgar Halliwax [also known as Dr. Marvin Candle and Dr. Mark Wickmund from other Orientation Film's] discussing what the Orchid station's real purpose is and how exactly the Casimir Effect helps in moving the island.

On a side note, check out the name and patch on Ben's jacket:

Hopefully we will also learn how a guy ended up in the dessert with a winter coat on without any foot prints in the sand.

Is it 9 yet?

Is it innocent or something else [part 2]?

Quick, look at screen grab of a national commerical and tell me what you see:

Do you see Rachael Ray in yet another Dunkin’ Donuts spot pitching what looks to be a iced coffee wearing a fairly non-attractive scarf [which turns out to be black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design] or a national media figure possing as a terrorist sympathizer? Under mounting right-wing traditional and non-traditional media pressure, the Canton-based company has abruptly canceled an ad in which the domestic diva wears a scarf that looks like a keffiyeh, a traditional headdress worn by Arab men.

Seriously? People in this country either are confused on what the item in question is used for [traditional headdress worn by Arab MEN] or they think a company like Dunkin’ Donuts is sypathtic to the Islamic jihad and are using subtle messaging to get this out to the public. Let's get honest here - there are people out there who just want to make a fuss of things like this to just make a fuss. Thank you very little ]ultra-conservative Fox News commentator] Michelle Malkin for your opinion. You have made us all feel so much better. Now I'm off to get an Iced Latte Lite with a dozen Chocolate Frosted Dooughnuts...

Is it innocent or something else?

Quick, look at this girls shirt and tell me what you think it means:

If you are like me, the numerals have a very specific connotation however according to Christina Morrison, 14, of Billerica who is pictured wearing the T-shirt that got her suspended last week that "It was just a new T-shirt from Urban Behavior that I really liked. It's only supposed to mean sophomore year 1969."

I couldn't find this shirt on the Urban Behavior website so there is no information on the intent of the so-called Sophomore 69 shirt. As for the company, the first Urban Behavior store opened in Toronto 1989. I could almost give Ms. Morrison a pass if she was wearing a GAP shirt, which was founded in 1969 but she was not.

As for her mother, Kimberly Cifelli she had this to say [via email to the Lowell Sum Times] on the subject:

"How could a school official look at a T-shirt with 'SOPHMORE 69' on it and think that it's sexually explicit?" Cifelli asked. "They have athletes with 69 on their jerseys. Do they get suspended? This shirt wasn't too tight or too low-cut. She wasn't wearing a micro-mini. The comment was totally unrealistic."

According to the paper, Cifelli thinks the teacher may also have confused Christina with her twin sister, Crystal, who had been verbally reprimanded when she wore the same T-shirt to school a week and a half ago. She was aware of that incident, but still felt comfortable giving Christina the go-ahead to wear the shirt.

If I understand this correctly, one of her twin daughters wore this potentially suggestive shirt to school and was verbally reprimanded for it, mom was well aware of the situation and still thinks it's ok for her other daughter to go ahead and wear it? Did she think the school would be more tolerant the second time around? Or was she just looking for a reason to get on her soapbox about freedom of speech?

I say draw your own conclusions. For me, I have a 16 year old niece and I am well aware of how the mind's of the youth works and I'm not buying the whole innocent/freedom of expression argument.

Now if I can just find my GAP 69 t-shirt for work...

Park It or Ticket It

Apparently the thing to do on a holiday weekend with gorgeous weather is hit the mall, Wrentham Village Premium Outlets to be more specific. I guess I can't really find too much fault in that - I was there too. To my amazement, it was like Christmas time there yesterday - PACKED! Every parking spot was taken and I had to resort to my least favorite thing about crowded malls, following shoppers back to their cars to find a spot. While we were searching for shoppers to follow, I noticed several cars parked illegally - you know at the end of the isle where there is not spaces lined out, around grassed islands or even on top of those grassy islands. As I drove around the first car parked in such a manner, I noticed a beautiful orange ticket under their windshield wiper, which honestly brought a smile to my face. As we drove around the side we came upon two Wrentham Police cruisers handing out tickets for all of those shoppers to impatient to find a spot or who think they can park their cars anywhere they want to. Well for those kind of shoppers, I think they bought something a little extra yesterday.

And then there was one

While we wait [2 hours] for the announcement of which David has won season 7, here is the in-flight entertainment:

  • The all-in-white Top 12 sing along with the Solid Gold, I mean So You Think You Can Dance, dancers. I imagine this is what the summer tour is mostly like.

  • A nice dude/dude`duet by the Davids covering Chad Kroeger/Josey Scott's Hero. Just my opinion, one is a hero and the other is a zero.

  • Insert very long Love Guru promotional bit. Mr. Meyer's please do not comment about facial or pubic hair during the show, never mind.

  • Ahhh it's good to see Syesha again and oh yeah Seal wasn't bad either.

  • Poor Jason Castro had to sing Hallelujah all alone :( I guess they couldn't dig up Leonard Cohen to sing with him.

  • Dopey ford ad. At least they David's got new cars for doing those goofy commercials all season long.

  • Top 6 girls working hard for their money with break dancers and Donna Summers. What was Donna signing exactly in the second song? Never mind she's now on to Last Dance with Syesha and it looks like this might Donna's last dance for real.

  • Carly and Michael John's wrote me a letter and they don't sound bad together. Can you say duet's for those two?

  • Jimmy Kimmel with a little stand up. For the record, the proper tip for valet in LA is 20 bucks, but in Sanjayas case you might want to make that a 50. PS The Simon song was very clever.

  • Bottom 4 men take us back to the Summer of the 69 and then with the Davids they take us all to Heaven. Brian Adams - hey wait he's Canadian - sings some new song no one cares about [or is it abbut]. I need somebody, somebody like you.

  • David Cook and ZZ Top are Sharp Dressed Men, well maybe not.

  • Brooke and Gram Nash telling us beautifully how Teach our Children [well].

  • Jonahs Brothers sending out an SOS for the show to get over soon. By the way, is the guy in the middle related to Sanjaya?

  • A review of best of the worst this year culminating in a USC band backed crazy song which only emphasizes that 2 hours is way too long for the finale.

  • One Republic with Archie reminding us it is too late to Apologize [in case he does in deed win].

  • Jordan Sparks in an awful dress singing an equally awful song. One step at a time with no need to rush [except with my DVR remote].

  • Gladys Knight and the Tropic Thunder boys. RDJ is classy as a pip.

  • Carrie Underwood looking stunning [as always - actually this is the second year running] with her Before He Cheats prequel Last Name.

  • Top 6 girls remind us we have to have Faith. Is Amanda drunk? Top 6 guys look for a Father Figure - summoning one George Michael. But first we need a little Freedom. Not sure what he is singing, although my wife loves it. I guess the top 12 already did the popular GM songs.

So after Simon apologized for his remarks about Cook, which was very big of him, we final learn that after 97.5 million votes the winner is - DAMN IT, my DVR just stopped, as if the show was over.

I had to shoot over to the net and find this guy at MTV blogging the show live to find the results. Live by the DVR, die by the DVR. At least this morning I got to see DC sing The Time Of My Life.

Congratulations to David Cook, now let's get recording.

Idol Finals: The Morning After

Overall I did not like whole boxing vibe [especially Jim Lampley] of the show last performance night, except for Michael Buffer of course. The David's have three songs to win your vote to be crowned King of the Nokia Theater with the guidance of Clive Davis and Andrew Llyod Webber. So without further ado, Let's get ready to rumble...

David Cook

I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For | U2 (Clive Davis's choice)

With all due respect Mr. Davis, I'm not sure if this was the best song choice for Cookie. I think he did pretty good with the song and it was a solid first song but not a home run.

Dream Big | written by Emily Shackelton (contestant's choice new song)

This song gives the whole world an idea of what a David Cook record would sound like. I really liked the song as a whole until the very last huge note, which was unnecessary. Another solid performance.

The World I Know | Collective Soul (contestant's choice)

I love this song but I wasn't real big on the much slower tempo Cook but on it. I have to agree with Simon [as I said last week] I think a revival of Billie Jean would have a better choice. Over all it was another cool and solid song.

David Archuleta

Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me | Elton John (Clive Davis's choice)

Now that's a good choice Mr. Davis. Archie was right in his element with this piano-driven run-laden classic song. I hope all those tweeny voters enjoy mid-70's Elton John songs.

Round one goes to little David.

In This Moment | written by Ryan Gillmor (contestant's choice new song)

Anchor boy gave you what his album would sound like, and for me, it is not something I would ever purchase. That being said, it was a nice song but not very moving.

Round two is a tie.

Imagine | John Lennon (contestant's choice)

Even though I knew he would do this song again, I felt this version was worse than his week 2 version. Just stop ruining a true classic which was written and song so simply and beautifully.

Round three is another tie.

Who should win: David Cook
Who will win: David Archuleta
Who will have the longer career: David Cook

The hits [or not] just keep on coming

Another day, another Boston sports figure rises up and give the local sports fan a real treat. Last night Jon Lester threw his first career Major League no-hitter, and the 18th in Red Sox history, in a 7-0 win against the Kansas City Royals.

The 130-pitch game was also Lester's first complete game in the major leagues. It was the first no-hitter thrown by a Red Sox left-handed pitcher since Mel Parnell in 1956. This was the first no-hitter in MLB since Clay Buchholz's, fellow Red Sox, September 2007 no-no and the game was caught by Jason Varitek, who now has a MLB-record fourth no-hitter catching.

Congratulations Jon on beating cancer, winning game 4 of the world series and now joining a very special group of pitchers with your first [and hopefully not your last] no-hitter.

Almost just a game of one-on-one

Yesterday Paul "The Truth" Pierce and LeBron "King" James literally carried their respective teams through game 7 of the Celtics/Cavaliers playoff match up. Honestly I haven't watched much basketball this year but this game was an instant classic, reminding me of the epic battle between Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins some 20 years ago. Pierce would hit a jump shot, James would go down the court and do the same. Back and forth it went for 48 minutes until the final buzzer when Pierce’s 41 carried his team just a bit further than James' 45. And for those who don't think home court means much, check out this video showing Pierce doing everything yesterday including a free throw that bounced in the closing minute of play. Paul would later call this shot one that he got an assist on from Red on:

In a series that featured defense first, it was nice to see these two all-stars do what all-stars do - shot, drive, dish and dunk and for our home town boys they now get to face the Bad Boys from Detroit in the conference finals. Should be another epic battle starting Tuesday night.

Who is this person?

On the right you have Kate with Baby Aaron, Sun and Sayid. On the left you have Jack and Hurley. But who is in the background behind Oceanic Airlines Rep Karen Decker? Sure it could be just a random Oceanic personnel/maintenance person/Coast Guard Airman/Co-co-pilot or something but we have learned over the past 4 seasons there is nothing in the Lost universe that is done randomly. Plus I have been waiting for the Lost writers to pull another mind fuck on us by revealing Aaron is not part of the O6 but someone else previoulsy not seen.

I think we are going to learn in two weeks that the Oceanic 6 does not include Aaron but rather mystery guy sitting alone [neither family or friend] on the plane who later ends up in the coffin.

Bill O'Reilly says F*ck It!

A 20 year old Inside Edition video popped up on the web showing Bill, well let's just roll the tape and see:

At least he didn't say "I'm Bill O'Reilly?" Anyway, staying in line with his usual tongue-in-cheek style, Stephen Colbert has come to the rescue of his mentor - Papa Bear - with his own out take [note I love the Sex Tape / Ambien drop in the intro]:

And finally, showing that there are many people with too much technology and time on their hands we already have a Bill O'Reilly - Flips Out Dance Remix:

And then there were just the David's

In the least shocking elimination ever, Syesha was sent home and we [the male audience] will have to go hottie-less in the final week. So for one last time, here she is [in BOTB double vision no less]:

For the finals I am expecting another 3 pack of songs and if they use the same formula from last year we will get a contestant's choice, song previously sung by contestant, winning song of the American Idol Songwriter Contest.

For David "Archie" Archuletta I would think his choice would be something young and fun [but hopefully less urban than a Chris Brown song]. I would guess his repeat would be Imagine by John Lennon but I haven't been a fan of his since the beginning so I could be way off.

For David "DC" Cook I am hoping his song choice will be semi-obscure rock track or maybe an acoustic ballad he can rearrange into his own style. Just something different is all I ask. For his repeat I would say the smart choice would be Billie Jean by Michael Jackson but I would love for him to take another shot at Baba O'Riley by The Who just with more time to include the phat guitar bridge.

What ever happens next Tuesday, next week at this time season 7 will only be a memory.

Idol Top 3: The Morning After

This week we get the ever famous Pick 3 Week - Judge's Choice, Contestant's Choice and Producer's Choice. Hopefully we will get some interesting [and contestant centric] song choices.

David A.:

And So It Goes - Billy Joel (Paula's Choice)

Nice [and rather predictable] rendition of a semi-obscure Billy track. Nothing exciting.

With You - Chris Brown (Contestant's Choice)

Glad to hear a different style of song, just not sure this was a good choice. It could be too contemporary for David. He started booful but ended ok. Note to David's dad, tell him not to dance.

Longer - Dan Fogelberg (Producer's Choice)

Super song choice by the producers and by far my favorite David song tonight. Even thought Simon called it gooey, he is at least one person's 3rd favorite judge. Awesome! As much as it pains me to say this, David takes round 3.

Syesha:

If I Ain't Got You - Alicia Keys (Randy's Choice)

Beautiful cover of Ms. Keys signature track and Syesha is peaking just at the right time. The dress doesn't hurt!

Fever - Peggy Lee (Contestant's Choice)

Now I have a fever, fever for Syesha . Perfect song choice for a future Broadway star. And the Tony goes too... For me, Syesha took round 2.

Hit Me Up - Gia Farrell (Producer's Choice)

Loved the more youthful choice but it may have been too up tempo for her voice. At least she can dance and it was entertaining. Take note David A.

David C.:

The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Roberta Flack (Simon's Choice)

Very, very cool [and powerful] rendition of a unique song choice. Round 1 goes to Cook and Cowell!

Dare You To Move - Switchfoot (Contestant's Choice)

Maybe my least favorite song for Mr. Cook this year. On a positive note a sign in the audience stated Cougars 4 Cook,so he's go that going for him [which is nice].

I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing - Aerosmith (Producer's Choice)

This was an odd song choice for me but I think David covered it pretty well. I would have liked to seen him get a shot a real rock song. I guess that should have been contestant's choice.

Outstanding Song Choice Award: The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
Hottie Of The Week: Syesha in Silver over Syesha in Gold
Should Go Home: David A.
Will Go Home: Syesha

No Country for David's Dad

Word on the street is American Idol finalist David Archuleta's father, Jeff Archuleta, has been banned from show rehearsals and from being backstage. The final straw appeared to be a lyric change Archuleta reportedly insisted on during last week's performance show. Despite being warned against it, David's father is said to have insisted on changing some of the lyrics to Ben E. King's Stand by Me, in order to slip in a verse from Sean Kingston's Beautiful Girls, a move that cost the production additional song-clearance costs. Apparently Jeff was told last week by Idol producers that he can no longer join David, 17, as he prepares for the show based on Archuleta's intense backstage involvement with his son's song choices and arrangements had become a source of concern for the series. Hopefully this won't hurt young David's chances this week with the final 3 - pick 3 night.

Maybe it should be Richardson High School

Rochelle High School scored 42 team points to win the Texas 1A track title. The school placed first in the high jump (5 feet, 5 inches), second in the long jump (18-7), third in the discus (121-0), first in the 200 meters (25.03 seconds), and second in the 100 meters (12.19 seconds). The thing is the team consisted of one single athlete - Bonnie Richardson. Un-Be-Liev-Able.

In Bonnie's honor, I suggest they rename her school [at least for one day] to Richardson High School!

Iron Man: Movie Review

I AM IRON MAN [Daaa Daaa Daaa Da Da] - Thank you Black Sabbath! As for the movie, where do i begin? The script was solid. It introduced the characters well and gave a great foundation for Iron Man movies to come [and there will be more]. The casting was excellent. Robert Downey Jr. was perfectly flawed as Tony Stark and Gwyneth Paltrow was good as his faithful and almost sexy personal assistant. The effects were superb and not over done. Sure the flying was great and the suit looks stunning but for me it's the little CGI effects that I really enjoyed like the 3D modeling system and the visual filing system they used. And as an added bonus, their was a good amount of humor in the film, including Mr. Jeves - Stark's home computer.

Spoiler Alert - Do not read further if you do not want to surprised at the end.

The post-credits reveal that Sam Motherfuckin' Jackson has a cameo in the film makes all of those SJ lovers out there go Ohhhh. And then to learn he is Nick Fury and wants to talk to Tony about "The Avenger Initiative" makes you go holy crap!

Marvel already has plans for Iron Man 2 [April 30, 2010] following it with Thor [June 4, 2010] and The First Avenger: Captain America [May 6, 2011]. Now Tony Stark will make his own cameo in this summer's Hulk reboot which lay the ground work for the culmination of the little hint dropped at the end of Iron Man called The Avengers [July 2011] which will bring together the characters of Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk, Captain America, and Thor in one movie.

All I can say is Marvel has fully entered the movie business and is showing no signs of letting off the gas anytime soon.

DC, are you listening? Can you say Justice League? Maybe your just not ready to try something that ambitious.

And then there were 3

As I thankfully watched Jason laugh his way through I Shot The Sheriff last night, I was suddenly saddened to think how good the top 4 could have been if Michael or Carly had properly lasted until this week. If this season's popularity contest continues as expected we could skip the next two weeks and just crown audience [and Randy Jackson] favorite David A. as your season 7 American Idol, resident rocker David C. as your runner up and post tour [and soon to be] Broadway star Syesha as the bronze medalist.

Next week we get the traditional trifecta: Contestants' Choice, Judges' Choice, Producers' Choice [which I think should be read as Clive Davis' Choice]. For the contestants and the producers choice I expecting each Idol to be sing something that fits there style. But in the Judges choice, it could get interesting [remember Katharine McPhee's Over The Rainbow?]. Would Randy have David A. cover a real rock classic like Back In Black? Or how about Paula giving Syesha a song which naturally lacks big huge notes like Yesterday? Or maybe Simon would give David C. a real country song like I Got Friends In Low Places? I am hoping they give them songs that really force the contestants outside their comfort zone and have to really work hard to show the world they are worthy of the title of American Idol.

Idol Top 4: The Morning After

Rock and roll week is based on the 500 songs that shaped rock and roll, according to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As Def Leppard [who are tragically not on the list] would say, Do you wanna get rocked?

David C. | Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran

Sounds more like he is Hungry Like A Winner. Sure he did a more straight cover and his voice is not as smooth as Simon LeBon but David's gritty vocal over a grungy guitar riff was perfectly David Cook.

Syesha | Proud Mary - Ike & Tina Turner

Shake it don't break it [it took yo momma 9 months to make it]! I think Tina would be Proud of Syesha for her solid vocals and excellent cover of her dance moves as well. Rollin, Rollin, Syesha Keep On Rollin.

Jason | I Shot the Sheriff - Bob Marley

Bob Marley? There's shocker but unfortunately the Sheriff didn't shot this performance. There is a reason Jason has never sung this song before [and please do not sing it again]. PS Plug in your guitar for the next song.

David A. | Stand By Me - Ben E. King

I could actually Stand this song and it wasn't as bad as I thought it it was going to be. The band sounded great and when David didn't run the lyrics to long, it was ok. Not molting hot by any stretch.

Song 2 [Wooo Whoo]

David C. | Baba O'Riley - The Who

Very cool mellow beginning working into a nice uptempo rock song. Unfortunately we couldn't get another minute of the song and allow David and the band to rip up the sweet bridge that comes right after where David left off.

Syesha | A Change Is Gonna Come - Sam Cooke

I think the Change already came for Syesha. Suddenly she is sounding great, picking good songs and looking like a real star. Love the Change of outfit. Being not too familiar with the song, I thought it was good.

Jason | Mr. Tambourine Man - Bob Dylan

You know it started pretty good but the humming where words should be just proves he is ready to be all done with American Idol. Well thanks for the memories Jason, its been real. It's been fun. Just not real fun.

David A. | Love Me Tender - Elvis Presley

The arrangement is w a y t o o s l o w! Again his tone is good but I was bored and ready to go to bed. I can't wait to see if all those tweeny's shell out $16 for his album.

What song selection reveals

In this weeks Entertainment Weekly, there is a very interesting article on Why Song Selection Matters, including the fact that AI uses a pull-from-the-hat model when 2 or more contestants want to sing a song. The article is the by-product of two days spent on-site at rehearsals and here is what I have learned about our top 4 contestants:

David Archuleta

David is a well trained puppy who has been heavily ruled by his stage father. The article points out how Jeff Archuleta gave "suggestions" to the music directors of the show for his son's performances last week. It went even further to say Jeff "occasionally compliments his son, who stands silently by the mic". Sounds like David will need some therapy some where down the road. Maybe AI should raise the age limit to at least 18 years old and keep the parents out of it.

Jason Castro

Jason has gotten a lot further than he ever thought he would. He notes his voice is weaker than everyone else left and seem like he is ready to be done. He even went into his weekend meeting with Neil Diamond without learning the lyrics to his song choices and skipped the rest of his weekend rehearsals to visit with his brother and friend, who came to visit. Regarding his own performances, he even went as far to say that "if people like it, they like it. And if they don't. they don't. I'm kind of ready to go home". He just might get his wish on Wednesday.

Syesha Mercado

Syesha has trouble picking songs yet remains in the game. She has struggled through some of the weeks but her good voice, obvious beauty and warm personality has kept her alive and into the top 5 - something most people would have not predicted 8 weeks ago. I would expect Syesha to give it her all even though she has been in the bottom 2 or 3 in 6 of the past 8 weeks. Even though she won't win AI, I think she has a big future in theater in her future.

David Cook

David is confident in himself and can work with a wide range of songs. When he heard Syesha wanted to Hello Again, he let her [he had previously selected the song]. Some might call this confidence as arrogance but I see this as just being nice [to fellow contestants] and confidence in his own ability. The other thing I found interesting as his comment that "there are some vocal similarities between Neil Diamond and Axl" [as in Axl Rose of Gun's N Roses]. This kind of comment/insight would only be made my a real music guy - a person who really loves music!

Tonight we see if what we have learned this week plays out for or against each contestant. Rock-And-Roll!

Anchorman 2??? Ohhhhh

In a collider.com interview, former SNL head writer and current writer, director and Funny or Die co-founder Adam Mckay states that he and Will are planning an Anchorman sequel. Well give me three fingers of Glenlivet, with a little bit of pepper... and some cheese, please! Here are the important bits of the interview:

Collider: What did you just say?

Adam McKay: I'm looking to do another movie, I might do this other movie called Channel 3 Billion which is kind of this science fiction/Brazil type comedy. Then after that, Will and I are like let's do Anchorman 2…so you're talking like 2 years maybe we'll do it. But we're going to do it, for sure.

Collider: That's like 100%?

Adam McKay: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We're dying to do it. Unless we can't get the cast together, which is always kind of a tricky thing. But, I think, with that cast we're all friends, so yeah, we want to do it.

Since the project is a couple years off, it will probably be a while before any real details are available on the much [at least for me] anticipated second film full length film in the Ron Burgundy series. In the meantime, here is a short list of suggestions for movie titles:

Anchorman 2: The Diversity Strikes Back
Anchorman 2: When In Rome
Anchorman 2: The Wrath of Saint Dorothy Mantooth
Anchorman 2: Dr. Noisewater and Mr. Westfall
Anchorman 2: I'm Ron Burgundy?
Anchorman 2: The Man With No Arms Returns

Past weekend and a bathroom fan

Looked like this on Saturday morning:

and ended like this on Sunday afternoon:

After this I realized that I am not much of a carpenter but with a little perseverance and hard work, it can be done.

Celtics Win

Actually they destroyed the Hawks in game 7 and thank god they did. Going 7 games with a team who squeaked into the playoffs with a loosing record is a team that the "best record int he league" Celtics should have beaten soundly in 4 games. The best thing about the game was the box score especailly for one "the fans are just jumping on the band wagon" Mike Bibby.

M. Bibby G MIN 25:10 FG 1-3 TO 1 PTS 2

And so what if us locals are just jumping on the backs of our basketball players now. Is that so wrong? I have no problem with rooting for championship # 17 since it has been 22 years since the last championship of the original Big 3 and we now have a new Big 3 who could take us all the way. Go Celts!

Beat It - 2008 Edition

Covered by the band Fall Out Boy and the studio recording [heard below] features John Mayer on Guitar.

The video includes Tony "Buster Bluth" Hale, Hal "Zoltan" Sparks, and Donald " Dr. Turk" Faison. Just beat it, beat it. Beat it, beat it, beat it.

And then there was the final 4

So finally Ms. Brooke "I cry and pout at nearly everything" White is gone home. She had a great run and could find some sucess as a recording artist, if she could find and/or create some original and personal material. Next week we have songs that shaped/inspired Rock n' Roll [what ever that means]. Consipicy theorist might say this is how the producers make sure David C. gets a little further along and perhaps keeping Jason from going any further. I only point that out because one thing Idol has not done is presented the theme weeks up front but rather as we go along. Perhaps making adjustments as they see fit to shape the outcome for maximum value. Of course that's just the cynical side of me speaking now.

As for song selection, this should be a wide open week. In my humble opinion, the Idols could choose anything from early 50's R & B and Elvis to The Beatles and the britsh movement to Led Zeppelin and the late 70's classic rock stage through Grunge of the early 90's. Since the contestants will sing at least 2 songs [if not 3], I owuld love to see them each pick songs of differing styles. Who really wants to see David A. sing too sappy power ballads anayway?
