And then there were 3
As I thankfully watched Jason laugh his way through I Shot The Sheriff last night, I was suddenly saddened to think how good the top 4 could have been if Michael or Carly had properly lasted until this week. If this season's popularity contest continues as expected we could skip the next two weeks and just crown audience [and Randy Jackson] favorite David A. as your season 7 American Idol, resident rocker David C. as your runner up and post tour [and soon to be] Broadway star Syesha as the bronze medalist.Next week we get the traditional trifecta: Contestants' Choice, Judges' Choice, Producers' Choice [which I think should be read as Clive Davis' Choice]. For the contestants and the producers choice I expecting each Idol to be sing something that fits there style. But in the Judges choice, it could get interesting [remember Katharine McPhee's Over The Rainbow?]. Would Randy have David A. cover a real rock classic like Back In Black? Or how about Paula giving Syesha a song which naturally lacks big huge notes like Yesterday? Or maybe Simon would give David C. a real country song like I Got Friends In Low Places? I am hoping they give them songs that really force the contestants outside their comfort zone and have to really work hard to show the world they are worthy of the title of American Idol.
