Almost just a game of one-on-one
Yesterday Paul "The Truth" Pierce and LeBron "King" James literally carried their respective teams through game 7 of the Celtics/Cavaliers playoff match up. Honestly I haven't watched much basketball this year but this game was an instant classic, reminding me of the epic battle between Larry Bird and Dominique Wilkins some 20 years ago. Pierce would hit a jump shot, James would go down the court and do the same. Back and forth it went for 48 minutes until the final buzzer when Pierce’s 41 carried his team just a bit further than James' 45. And for those who don't think home court means much, check out this video showing Pierce doing everything yesterday including a free throw that bounced in the closing minute of play. Paul would later call this shot one that he got an assist on from Red on:In a series that featured defense first, it was nice to see these two all-stars do what all-stars do - shot, drive, dish and dunk and for our home town boys they now get to face the Bad Boys from Detroit in the conference finals. Should be another epic battle starting Tuesday night.
