Digital TV is coming!

This is a helpful video for anyone who needs to make the conversion by next February.

Editor's Note: The conversion from an analog signal to digital will not bring Jack Benny back.

The future of music?

Not being able to play the drums or piano doesn't stop this guy from creating an interesting song:

With a video camera, some editing software and a few instruments, you could be a whole band, playing each instrument, by yourself. Cool.

Looks like something out of a movie

Last Thursday, a large meteor came through our atmosphere and likely broke into pieces and landed around the Alberta-Saskatchewan border. Here is a dash board video taken by a local police officer of the rare fireball in the sky:

The scientist estimates the rock that hurtled into the atmosphere likely weighed between one and ten tons and was most likely shredded into hundreds of little meteorites as it tore across the sky. In this security video, you can see how bright it gets for just an instant as the meteor burns ever so brightly:

Here comes the sun... oh never mind, it's just a meteor.

My favorite new website

Have you ever had someone call you to ask a question which they could have looked up for themselves? Directions? Recipe? Phone Number? Computer Question? I have had several occasions where I have been asked for some bit of information and all I did to help out the questioner was to jump over to Google and look it up. Well now I have the ultimate tool for those situations:

The site was the product of a lunchtime chat about Googling stuff for other people. When you use lmgtfy, you get a custom link that you can email someone which first shows them how easy google is and then gives them the actual google page with the search results. For example, say you got a call from a friend who wanted to know how to add an item to your start menu. You could send them a link like this:

http://letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=how+to+add+an+item+to+the+start+menu

[Really click the link, you'll get a kick out of it]

I love the animation that shows you first how to type into Google's input box and then how to click the Google Search button. The site is to be used all those people that find it more convenient to bother you with their question rather than google it for themselves.

Don't be suprised if the next time you ask someone to google some information for you that you may just get a lmgtfy link in return. I know I can't wait to use this service!

Tropic Thunder "Trailers"

In honor of very funny Tropic Thunder being released on DVD and Blu-ray today, here are the trailers which run before the movie with in the movie:

When I saw this in the theater I was confused until the second one ran and I understood the joke. I'm glad I get to see the Booty Sweat/Bust-A-Nut chimerical again because it is hilarious.

Air Jordon can't win them all

Back in February, SI's Chris Ballard wrote a story about a post-Wizards era Michael Jordan that some mutual fund CEO named John Rogers Jr. who had beaten Jordan in a game of one-on-one at the legend's high-end "Flight School" camp in Las Vegas. According to Ballard, there were one-handed runners and flip-shots and even Damon Wayans. It was quite the tale. And today we finally have video footage.

Together again, I hope it's not too awkward...

The second part goes a little better...

I was expecting Sarah to roll this footage when asked if she had made sweet love to anyone since they were apart but maybe that joke was just too easy.

Fanboys is finally coming to a theater near you

This film is due to be released on February 6, 2009 and will probably do fine, but I think it would have been timely had it hit the screens on it's original date of August 17, 2007 - only 2 years removed from Episode III. With several delays, re-shoots and script changes the film is finally going to be out there for all those loving Star Wars fans who have been eagerly waiting over 2 years to see Kristen Bell in her Princess Leia gold bikini costume.
