Chilly Chicago Morning

Running along route 45 north in this morning, I noticed a Mobile On The Run gas station with a Miller Lite neon sign in the window and it got me to thinking about our November ballot bill to sell wine in grocery stores. There has been a lot of press on both sides of the question [package stores want to retain their monopoly and are claiming a change in our law will increase drunk driving and under age drinking while grocery stores want to give the consumer more choice, added convenience and lower prices] however at the end of the day [just as it is in most business cases] it comes down to the almighty dollar.

Do the voters of Massachusetts really believe that the package store owners of our state are overly concerned with drunk driving and under age drinking or are they more concerned with losing market share? Do the voters here truly believe the large grocery chain stores are concerned with lower prices for consumers or are they trying to find additional products to place on their shelves to increase the amount spent at the register everyday? Personally, I see many, many states that sell beer and wine in gas stations, corner markets, and grocery stores and so far I have not seen any empirical data that shows either lower prices or higher drinking issues. So this November 7th don't forget to vote for the American free market system which is what we are really voting for anyway.
