Randy Moss as a Patriot
The New England Patriots traded their fourth round pick to Oakland for Randy Moss. Yup the Randy Moss who has said publicly he play when he wants to, has been in trouble with the law and had provided some on-field calibrations that we wish he hadn't. [Maybe Randy’s real problem over the past 10 seasons that he has been on teams that have lost much more than they have won.] This seem like a departure from the prototypical player the Patriots would go after however upon closer inspection maybe Moss is exactly the guy they need.The Patriots have long held the philosophy that they need to build a team and championships first, super stars and stats second. In the 3 super bowl champion seasons, Tom Brady has never had a pro-bowl receiver [and true deep threat] to throw to yet they continue to win. This was done by adding the pieces to the puzzle to better the team. After last season, where the team went 12-4, they continually lacked real receiver threat which at times made them a1 dimensional team. In this off season, the Patriots added new talent at wide receiver and defensive backs addressing their two biggest needs. Adding the pieces to the puzzle.
The last big [6'4"] piece to the puzzle is a tall, fast can-go-deep wide out for Brady to throw to this fall. Wouldn't we all like to see Tom finally have a Pro Bowl season to go with his fourth super bowl ring? How about 4 or 5 pro bowlers from one of the best teams in the history of the game. I say if Moss can bring all of that back to Foxborough and fall inline with the Patriot way then welcome to New England Mr. Moss.
