Red Sox Secert Weapon Revealed
13-year-old Alexa Rodriguez, who was touring Fenway Park on a school trip Thursday, was attacked by a resident red-tailed hawk that drew blood from her scalp. The hawk flew at the girl and swooped with its talons extended, scratching her scalp. Luckily Ms. Rodriguez wasn't seriously hurt.
Unfortunately the hawk's nest and egg were removed at the direction of state wildlife officials which puts a real damper on the sox plans for the friendly hawk to be available when the real A-Rod comes to town on April 11th. I guess they will just have to go to
Plan B.

Ball Park
Monday we took in a Giants-Astro's game at AT&T Park, which was under construction last time we had visited San Fran. It is a beautiful modern park with loads of concessions and easy to navigate walk ways. The 3200 square foot HD scoreboard in center field, labeled as the highest-quality outdoor scoreboard in America, lives up to the promise and delivers a stunning picture. Bonds didn't hit one out on his historic quest to be the all-time home run leader but we did get to watch Klesko drop a hit into McCoy Cove over the right field wall. Pretty cool [but not as cool as watching a ball fly over the Monster in Boston]! If you get a chance, definitely take in a game here in SF.

Opening day

Today marks opening day for your Boston Red Sox where Curt Schilling gets the call to lead the hometown heroes into the 2007 season. [We will have to wait until April 10th for the Sox home opening day game against the Seattle Mariners where, ironically, Schill should get the start again.]
This week we will also get our first Dice-K start of the year and this is probably the most anticipated game of this April for Sox Nation. Will he be the start we all hope he will be? In 3 days we will get our first look.
With a rotation that also includes Josh Beckett, Tim Wakefeild - not to mention Jon Lester and Matt Clement who on injured reserve - and Jonathan Papelbon closing dare I say "This could be the year - again"? Go Sox!

Baseball card maker gets a sense of humor
Derek Jeter's 2007 Topps baseball card includes the New York star in full swing at the plate but [if you look closely] you will also notice President Bush in the stands and Mickey Mantle looked on from the dugout. "Somewhere in between the final proofing and its printing, someone at our company -- and we won't name names -- thought it would be funny to put in Bush and Mantle," said Clay Luraschi, a spokesman for Topps.
I think this kind of "visual gag" would make baseball card colleting fun again. Maybe Topp's is on to something? Find Barney Stinson in the crowd on a players card and, wait for it, win a walk on role on a CBS sitcom. The cross promotional combinations are endless.
