New Earth Web Event

Last night, Oprah Winfrey and Eckhart Tolle had their first live web event for Tolle's book A New Earth. More than 500,000 students simultaneously logged on to watch Oprah and Eckhart discuss the chapter 1 of the book live, resulting in 242 Gbps of information moving through the Internet. In an email today after the event Harpo Productions, Inc., Move Networks and Limelight Networks say they "recognize that interactive Internet broadcasting to a mass audience is still an emerging medium, and we're proud to have been pioneers in pushing the industry forward."

I give them credit for trying to put together such a large scale web activity and there's one thing for sure, if anyone could get it right over the next 9 weeks it is Oprah Winfrey.
