Idol Top 10: Morning After

This week we get songs from the year each Idol was born. Did anyone take my advice from last week?

Ramiele Malubay Alone - 1987

Song was waaaaay too big for the little Ms. Malubay and could be her last song [until the summer tour].

Jason Castro Fragile - 1987

Another solid mostly-acoustic performance however it is just more of the same stuff we have scene over the past few weeks.

Syesha Mercado If I Were Your Woman - 1987

Much improved over last week, a super soulful song delivered with much heart [although not my kind of music].

Chikezie If Only For One Night - 1985

If Chikezie keeps singing like this he could end up finishing a lot higher than many expected a few short weeks ago.

Brooke White Every Breath You Take - 1983

[Called it!] Have to get the whole piano and singing in the correct order if you are to go deep into this competition.

Michael Johns We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions - 1978

Should have dropped the first have of the song and gone longer with the Champions [what's with the short-short versions of long songs?].

Carly Smithson Total Eclipse Of The Heart - 1983

Damn, she's got a great voice and could probably sing anything but a rock riff over an 80's staple, not so sure.

David Archuleta You're The Voice - 1990

Solid again and his vocals are really pure but someone get him a piano to sit in front of please!

Kristy Lee Cook God Bless The USA - 1984

This could be her best performance so far with good vocal strength on one of my personal favorite songs.

David Cook Billie Jean - 1982

Started a little weird but once he got to the chorus it made sense and was so very cool.

Final Thoughts:

  • Great Song Choice: Michael Johns, Kristy Lee Cook, & David Cook

  • Bottom Three: Ramiele Malubay, Chikezie & Syesha Mercado

  • Should Go Home: Ramiele Malubay

  • Will Go Home: Ramiele Malubay

Ramiele Malubay
She fricking yelled the whole thing! AAAAA-LOOOOOONE! Bottom three this week, which is essentially her "jump the shark" moment.

Jason Castro
Wino is right. Nothing new to see here. Go about your business. This guys eyes will keep the ladies voting for him this week, but he has to go big soon or go home.

Syesha Mercado
Can I say again how hot this girl is? Smmmmmmmokin! I thought she was great last week and again this week, but for some reason, she was bottom 3. Is Barack Obama the only black person you people vote for? Dang...why does it always have to be about race?

Chi-suck-e
If he had a purple tux on, he could have been a video recap of a Soul Train episode from way back when. Bottom three for sure, and my pick to go home this week. Plus, the embroidery on his coat this week make him look like (from a distance mind you) that was spraying fiberglass on boat hulls up until 7:55PM.

Brooke White
I cannot fricking believe that the Wino called this one. Is Brooke reading your blog? Is there something you are not telling us? Seriously, I like her hair this week, and I liked her more after the song than before, even with the gaffe up front.

Michael Johns
He tried to cram "Day in the Life" into two minutes last week too! However, he looked better this week. More relaxed, but he is still coming across as a limited kareoke kind of guy.

Carly Smithson
She blew it and has no grace under pressure. She was dry humping the whole time she was singing, which made me feel a little randy (nudge, nudge, know what I mean, randy, eh?) but her face was like a deer in the headlights, and she powered through the whole thing when she could have done so much more with this song.

David Archuleta
Worst song choice of the night. He keeps getting hung up on the lyrics of songs and I think Simon is right and his mother should stop picking songs for him. If the crowd hadn't cheered so much, he would be a dark horse for bottom 3 tonight.

Kristy Lee Cook
God bless KLC and her down home country-fried good looks! Nobody has given us that "hot farmer's daughter" look since before Kelly Clarkson was working at Burger King's drive-thru window. This was a genius song choice, whether it was positioning to stay in the race a bit longer or not, but she could sing this at a stadium any time.

David Cook
I know that my main man David Cook covered a cover (Chris Cornell's version) for this one, but give him props for bringing it to the public and singing the crap out of it! This was by far the best performance of the night. Just awesome and quite an accomplishment for not having boobies!

Final thoughts for bottom three:
Ramiele

Carly

Should go home:

Ramiele Malubay
Seriously, how has she stayed this long?

Jason Castro
Nothing new ol' blue eyes, you better ramp it up cuz you just saw yourself in the bottom three. How's that feel?? Ask KLC!

Syesha Mercado
I guess she is hot? J-man, can I get you cool compress for your sweaty....forehead? I thought she did a great job, I was shocked the panel as a whole did not. Weird!

Chi-suck-e
"Was spraying fiberglass on boat hulls up until 7:55PM". So funny cuz that is what the bottom of his jacket really looked like J-man! I am fan so I am sad he got kicked off instead of Ramiele.

Brooke White
Love her, didn't like this version. Thought she sounded nervous.

Michael Johns
I started out loving this guy but he is starting to sound like karoke. David Cook is the real thing. Just a matter of time MJ.

Carly Smithson
For some reason I don't really like this girl but you can't deny she has PIPES! She sang the crap out of that song (keeping her facial expressions out of it) but it seems like she won't get far on AI either.

David Archuleta
Worst song choice of the night. I don't get him. He has such nice tone in his voice and pulls that song out of....where...his mom's a$$?

Kristy Lee Cook
She is so cute and wholesome looking. She picked a brilliant song and did an ok job.

David Cook
I stood up and gave the slow clap when he was done (I watched it twice). HE IS DA BOMB! I hope he can keep his cockyness down a notch and keep it real...yo yo

"Hottie" of the Week:
Syesha (I voted for J-man) so that is two votes :)

Sorry, it was Carly's dry-humping that got me going...
