New year, new room

Take one dinning room covered in really bad circa 1975 peach/yellow paisley wallpaper and add a equally bad bluish border across the middle of the room [instead of in the typical location near the ceiling] and what do you get? Check out the mostly pre-work photos:

With the use of a streamer [note if you ever need to remove wallpaper, spend the $21 to rent a streamer, it is worth every penny], subtract the bulk of the wallpaper. Next remove the left over glue using a healthy application of wallpaper removal solvent, a six inch putty knife and a ton of elbow grease. Once the glue is removed, then you'll have to wash the walls with soap and water. After the walls are dry, add some spackle to filling the holes and cracks and prepare for painting. Then add 2 coats of primer, 2 coats of base paint and 5 coats of accent paint to get achieve the desired subtle marbled red effect. Lastly add new curtains, light, outlet and switch plate covers and a couple of new wall hangings and you get a whole new room. Check out the post-work photos:

All in a weeks [well more like 8ish days] worth of work!
