Yen-Way Park

The Boston Red Sox's bid of 51.1 million dollars [which is called a posting fee] was accepted by the Seibu Lions for the right to negotiate a contract with their pitching ace Daisuke Matsuzaka [pronounced Dice-Kay Mat-Zoo-Za-Ka]. They have until December 15th to sign a contract with Matsuzaka or he will return to his Japanese team for the 2006-2007 season and the posting fee will not be paid by Boston. No a side note, The Red Sox could spend much less to sit and talk with me about a job but on the other hand I can not throw a mid-90s fastball, a cutter, a two-seam fastball known as a "shuuto," a curveball, a changeup, a splitter, and a slider [not to mention the mythical gyroball].

If the Sox can get a deal done, Matsuzaka would join a talented rotation that already includes Curt Schilling, Josh Beckett and converted closer Jonathan Papelbon. This has the potential to be a great pitching staff next year and with youth [Beckett, Papelbon and Matsuzaka are all only 26 years old] at it's core, this could be a rotation that is eating up Major League Baseball for years to come. Get your Matsuzaka gear and Let's Go Sox!
